My family recently vacationed in Germany and loved the food. So, when we discussed which restaurants to try during our Walt Disney World trip, Biergarten was at the top of the list. It is located in the German Pavilion, is open for lunch and dinner, and offers authentic German cuisine.
Biergarten is more than just a restaurant, it is a dining experience with a live band performing at select times. The band encourages guests to come down to the dance floor and polka. Because we were there during Christmastime, the band played traditional Christmas tunes.
Situated behind the beautiful German village facade was the huge dining hall that reminded us of the beer halls we visited in Germany. Extensively decorated for the holidays, the hall is set up with communal-style tables, just like in Germany. After we checked in, the cast member sat my husband and I with a family of six. It is up to each table whether you want to socialize with the other guests. We exchanged greetings and enjoyed our meal.
Once our server, who was from Berlin, Germany, took our drink orders, we headed to the large all you can eat buffet. Lunch is served until 3pm and is slightly cheaper than dinner, which begins at 4pm.
Sausages, roast pork, sauerkraut, potatoes, spätzle, schnitzel are some of the items offered at the buffet. I was very impressed with the selection and made several trips to the buffet. I made sure to save room for the apple strudel and vanilla sauce, which was the highlight of the meal. Kids can make selections from the special kid’s buffet.
As we were at the buffet, the live band began to play and we were lucky to have a table near the dance floor. We enjoyed eating, listening to the music and watching the band perform with authentic German instruments.
The dining plan is accepted and is currently one table-service credit.
Biergarten did not disappoint and we really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and entertainment. We plan to dine at this restaurant in the future. It’s a great location for large groups, families or couples.
